For an artist line can be the most basic and yet most challenging aspect to convey. For these works I allowed the line to exist in the 3D world, full of twists and turns, with varied width length and texture. I have reduced things down to two colors, Black and Red, this gave a bold and dynamic tension and left me free to explore line, texture, and form. the color choice does not represent, blood, violence, aggression or any of your preconceived notions it is just what it is, black and red. I wanted to create painting’s that were more than painting’s. Free from the confines of a square canvass and stretcher, perhaps even a challenge to the notion of a painting, and certainly a challenge for the viewer. I have allowed the red line a physical body, breaking out and running free. these works are deeply textured and give a sense of the course and raw, while remaining controlled and established. This body of work is exhibited as an installation and changes from location to location.
